Let me post here before the snowball gets too big and my exponential laziness surpasses the acceptable level to come back here. Obviously life and work have been crazy lately, and quoting Almodovar again, I barely have time to wipe my ass. In this past week and a half my patience with this TLC project (and the people involved on it) has dropped to zero and tried to go below that. Let me recapitulate some events using the usual breakdown of my posts...
Last week I probably did a lot of interesting stuff, but by now I don't remember anything, so I can only talk about a few. Thursday was the day I pressed the "fuck off" button at work, and I told Brian about my frustrations on this project. The two of us had a conversation with Richard, and even though my responsibilities didn't change much, that at least woke Richard up to a few things he's been leaning too much on me. The next day he came to the office and tried to look useful, but still took away half of my lunch hour. That day I was also formally informed of my promotion, and apparently my next pay cheque will finally reflect that. Brian congratulated me in front of my peers, and even Harry and Alex gave me a few words of wisdom.
Also that day I had to go back to PMRI for my last period, and everything went fine until after the snack time... However, when I went to bed and tried to sleep, I started feeling this toothache that gradually took over the world and I couldn't possibly stand it without actively doing something to distract me from it. I tried to resist it for about 3 hours, but since it didn't go away I decided to take that as a sign that I should not be there and I withdrew from the study. Fortunately I dealt with a nice lady who helped me get the paperwork done quick, and she even called a cab for me. When I got to the streets I saw a bus coming, so I ditched the cab and came to Food Basics by bus. I was hoping to find a cab there to pay $10 for the short ride here, but the streets were empty - I had no choice but to walk. I still blamed the walking on Mareks for not answering the phone, but that was just because I was stressed and worried about not hearing back from him.
After the nightmare, my weekend was nice. I went to Ikea to buy things for Zulema's new place, but I ended up buying stuff for myself (as usual). I watched Phone Booth with Mareks at home, and I really enjoyed it =P It's a good thriller that keeps you interested during the whole movie. On Sunday I woke up early to go do my post-study exams at PMRI, and I was sad to hear I wouldn't get my cheque that day. I left, rested a bit at home, and then left to help Zulema move some furniture from this socially awkward lady's house to her new place. I really don't know how to act around people who tell you way too much information about themselves on the first day you meet them. Do I really need to know that she has cancer and her son is gay and she made a movie about it? I don't think so. Anyway, the rest of the weekend I spent watching Rurounin Kenshin (lol) because Coacci posted one of their songs in his Facebook and made me want to watch it.
Then this week began, and the stressful monster called TLC started to bother me again. Yesterday after work I had some time to help Mareks translate some documents, and then I stayed tuned to CBC's election results system to cheer in hope that the Conservatives wouldn't get a majority government. That went in vain, but at least the NDP made a historical shift in Canada's political landscape. I went to bed frustrated at North York and some other suburbs in the GTA that elected Conservative politicians that gave Harper the majority he wanted. Today I went downtown in the morning for my yearly physical, and for the first time I did it with my queer family doctor at Sherbourne. I can't ever say enough times that I love that place and the people that work there. But even though the nurses are great, today I'll call them evil because the shots they gave me for hep A and B made both my arms sore =[ And I still gotta go back twice to get the rest of the immunization.
Anyway, today I could have some lunch with Nate and Grant around Yonge & Sheppard. We had sushi at this nice and inexpensive place, and besides the rainy weather the afternoon experience was quite pleasant. I had to go to work after that to take care of some not so pleasant business, but after that I went to Express and the pleasure came back to my life. We made buttons to give out during the Jane's Walk this Sunday, and I made one for myself with a picture of a Final Fantasy game that I found on a magazine =] We went for coffee afterwards, and this nice girl who went to school with Grant gained my respect when she shared her colour-coded, standardized, non-digital calendar. My name-remembering disability prevents me from talking more about her, but hopefully we will see each other again someday.
That should be it. I hope to see myself back here shortly. Until then, take care.
SeeYa,
Feliploko, who got promoted.
