Life after debt

A mixture of ups and downs composed these past four days. And although I am sure of what I want for now, my feelings confuse me when I think of the future. It is the same old defense mechanism that distanced me from other people before, so it's a matter of feeling safe or feeling happy once more.

Thursday I went o work, but the servers were still down. I tried to copy the data locally on my client's box, but I simply couldn't. While most of my team just laid back and played games, I worked on some material to present on Friday's meeting at TLC. I managed to finish it before 5pm, so for once I left work on time. I met Mareks at Finch and VP, and our plan was to go downtown to meet Sabine and Diana at a modeling agency. When we were at Finch station, however, Diana called saying she could not start her car. We took the 36 to her place, and as soon as we got there, the car started working again. By that time they had given up going, so we just said bye to everyone and left to go get some dinner. I browsed TVA's updated directory and found this interesting restaurant at Eglinton and Bathurst. Mareks and I went there, and it was a simple, clean place. We ate a lot, since their portions are so small, and I even took home a vegan cheesecake. After that we walked around a very nice Jewish neighbourhood in that area, admiring the expensive-looking houses. We ended up at Yonge and something, so we just took the 97 and then the 39 back home.

Friday I had another UAT meeting at TLC, and since I was afraid to be too casual, I wore my regular weekday attire. It was surprising to see my clients in jeans and polo shirts when I got there, but that wasn't such a big deal. This time I drove the meeting from the very beginning, and combining the presentation I put together with my newly acquired insurance knowledge, the TLC staff was once more perplexed with my abilities. I surprisingly (or luckily) finished 5min before the estimated time, so for the rest of the day I heard the project managers thanking me and congratulating me for the "good job". Richard and I drove back to the office, stopping by at Subway to get some sandwiches (that he paid for again). I watched some weird anime with Andrew and Vince, and then I got back to working like crazy since the servers were up. My team is so dependent on me that it's not even funny. I barely sit down at my desk to do the stuff I'm supposed to (which is quite a lot, actually). I left the office on time again, and I didn't even stop at home because I was late to meet Minoo. Mareks joined me at the bus stop, and we got to Eglinton station a few minutes after 6pm. Minoo was waiting in front of the cinema, so while Mareks and she went upstairs to get snacks, I went down to Freshii to buy me something a little more satiating. Back to the cinema room, we watched the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie in 3D. I enjoyed it, since it combines some fantasy elements that I appreciate. After the movie the three of us walked around until we found a nice sushi place to go in. We ate a bit, and then Mareks and I dropped Minoo home before coming to our own place.

Then Saturday I didn't have bread for breakfast =[ So after showering I had this idea to go eat at Cora's. There's one close to Scarborough Town Centre, so Mareks and I took the bus to go there in the morning. It was quite crowded, but it didn't take too long to wait in line and get a table. We both gave up veganism for a day so we could taste this delicious Eggs Ben et Dictine which is in fact in most Cora posters out there on the subway. After eating we decided to walk a bit, since it was such a nice day outside, and then we thought about going to Unionville. Google Maps told me weird routes that I tried to follow, but once I got to Kennedy and Steeles I didn't know what to do anymore. I just gave up he idea and started walking around Pacific Mall. We tried to find something interesting to buy for Mareks' birthday, but their way of selling things is just not trustworthy... We got the bus back to the shops at Finch and Warden, and there we bought a Nexus S phone to try it out for 2 weeks. I think Mareks likes it, so I should have really sticked to the plan of surprising him on his birthday morning. We took a rest at home in the afternoon, and then in the evening we left again. We tried to go to Fairview Mall to buy something, but everything was closed at 8pm. We then went downtown without a gift for Rauf, but I still dropped by at his place to give him a hug. Edward and Rusty were there with him, so I said hi and bye to them since I couldn't stay long. Mareks and I started walking through the crowded streets of Little Italy until we found a good restaurant to eat (guess what? Sushi again, of course). Then after that we walked to University, and took the TTC the rest of the way home.

Today the day started nice, then it got tense, and then somewhere in Greektown it got better. Mareks and I went to this vegan restaurant who happens to be right across the street from Toronto's Jail. We ate some interesting entrées there, and I even had vegan banana split for dessert. After eating we walked around old Chinatown until we landed at the Gerrard Mall. We bought sunglasses at Zellers, and browsed some other windows before we got tired and went back to the street. We walked some more, but then we remembered we had laundry to finish. We took the TTC back home, but on the way we stopped at Hong Tai to buy some groceries. Perhaps the day doesn't end here, but the post is already too big to add what can potentially happen in the evening.

SeeYa,
Feliploko, and scrambled tofu.
